Bonn, Rhein-Sieg, Ahr

Vital, cosmopolitan and exceptionally attractive thanks to an assortment of cultural and geographical specials, this is what defines the region of Bonn around the romantic Rhine. As a gateway to the romantic Rhine, Bonn invites you to take excursions to the »Siebengebirge«, to the »Drachenfels« or to the legendary »Rolandsbogen« on the other side of the Rhine bank. Nature lovers should visit the valley of the River Sieg. If one ventures up the Rhine from the mouth of the River Sieg into the valley of the River Ahr, with its sunny cliffs and coveted red grapes, one can enjoy excellent cycling and hiking tours along 150 kilometres of riverbank. The four UNESCO World Heritage Sites are all no more than an hour’s drive away: the cathedrals of Cologne and Aachen, the baroque palaces of Brühl and the many castles in the valley of castles, the Loreley.

Art and Exhibition Hall of the Federal Republic of Germany

The Art and Exhibition Hall is the major venue for special exhibitions and art events of international significance in Germany. Thanks to a generous 5600 sqm of floor space, the Art and Exhibition Hall can run five differently sized exhibitions simultaneously. Since the opening in 1992 the Art and Exhibition Hall has hosted over 130 exhibitions and a wide range of events. About 1 million visitors from all over the world visit the Art and Exhibition Hall every year.

Culture and nature

The unique man-made landscape of the Siebengebirge has to offer a lot. As one of the most important reference points of the Rhine romanticism the region since the 19th century attracts countless visitors from all over the world. Regional specific features, how the rock parts in the dragon’s rock or the great view of the Mount of Olives stamp till this day the respect of the region. Due to long nature conservation tradition it can be opened in restful wanderings. Besides, connects the Rhine steep path, a premium footpath which leads from Bonn to Wiesbaden and accompanies the Siebengebirge along 40 km, many museums, exhibitions and places of interest. Prominent historic architectural monuments let the epochs of the history of the origin come to life; museums show artistic works or facets of the everyday life and economic life of former times.

Ahr, Rhein, Eifel

There is hardly any other region in Germany which has as much to offer. The Nürburgring is famous throughout the world as a racing track and attracts visitors as well as an all-season leisure and business center. From Brohltal, you can travel with the »Vulkan-Expreß« (vulcano express) railway to the romantic Rhine. The picturesque Eifel area attracts hikers as well as cyclists to Europe‘s most dense forest region. Some of the best German wines are also grown on the steep rock terraces of the Ahr valley where hikers will also find a further highlight: the Rotweinwanderweg (the Red Wine Hiking Trail), a 35 km stretch through the vineyards between Bad Bodendorf and Altenahr. Along the romantic wine growing towns of the Ahr and in the heart of this region, you will experience the symbiosis of old and new – Ahrweiler with its historic charm and the modern spa town of Bad Neuenahr which has been named Germany’s »best spa town«.
