Cologne is the leading location for television production in Germany: the production of TV films, series and shows accounts for over € 500 million in earnings for the region.
The contractors are, above all, the television stations that produce their daily programmes here, among them the Westdeutsche Rundfunk (WDR), the largest public broadcasting corporation in Europe, and RTL, Europe’s biggest private station. One television station would be able to schedule 100 days of programming, 24 hours a day, made up entirely of TV-programmes produced in Cologne.
